Saira Mumtaz's Story

Saira Mumtaz, a 7-year-old girl from Multan, is suffering from blurry and dim vision. She finds it difficult to read and recognize faces. Her world has become blurry, making even the simplest tasks a challenge. Her parents took her to a local hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Saira with cataract in both eyes and recommended IOL surgery to restore her vision. In January 2025, she underwent surgery for her right eye which brought a significant improvement in her sight. However, her struggle is not yet over. Now, her left eye needs the same surgical procedure for a clear vision. However, her family can’t afford the surgery.

Due to her condition, Saira often feels left out among her classmates, unable to keep up with her studies like other children of her age. If left untreated, Saira’s vision in her left eye will continue to deteriorate, making it even more difficult for her to function in her daily life. Over time, she may face complete vision loss.

Saira belongs to a large family, living in a modest house with a joint family system. She has five sisters and one brother. Their father, the sole breadwinner of the family, earns between PKR 400 to 500 per day as a laborer. With such an unstable income, he struggles to cover household expenses including PKR 2000 in utility bills and PKR 3000 in educational costs. Despite his hard work, he cannot afford the cost of another eye surgery for Saira.  During this difficult time, Saira’s father contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Saira’s father expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:

“My little girl is struggling to see the world clearly. I want her to have a future where she can read, learn, and live without fear of blindness. But my daily wages are not enough to cover the cost of her surgery. Please help us.”

Saira’s future depends on this surgery. She dreams of reading her books without straining, playing with her friends without stumbling, and living a life free from the fear of darkness. Let’s stand together to help Saira see the world again. Donate now!

Saira Mumtaz's Story

Saira Mumtaz, an 8-year-old girl from Multan, was suffering from impaired vision. Due to her blurry eyesight, she found it hard to focus on her studies. Reading books and walking around her home became increasingly challenging for her. Worried about her condition, her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After running some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed Saira with a cataract in both eyes. Her surgery for the right eye was performed in January 2025, with the support of Transparent Hands. After some time, her doctor advised her to undergo left LMA+ IOL surgery. Unfortunately, Saira’s parents couldn’t afford the surgery.

Saira lived in a modest home with her parents and six siblings. Her father worked hard as a daily wage laborer and made just PKR 400 to 500 per day. This unstable income barely covered their household expenses, including their utility bills, children’s school fees, and food expenses. With so many responsibilities and limited earnings, affording the cost of their daughter’s surgery was beyond their capacity. They feared her condition would worsen, affecting her education and quality of life. During this difficult time, they contacted Transparent Hands and requested assistance. After hearing their concerns, we promptly registered Saira’s case.

On April 9, 2025, Saira was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital in Multan. The following day, April 10, 2025, her LMA + IOL surgery for the left eye was successfully performed by Dr. Sadaqat. After the procedure, Saira received proper post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on the same day.

Saira’s parents said with happiness:

“We are so grateful to you for bringing light into our daughter’s world. We had lost all hope, but your support brought back her smile.”

With your generous donations, Saira can now enjoy a clearer and brighter future. She has returned to her studies and daily life with new confidence. Your kindness not just changed her life, but also gave hope to an entire family.
