Sakina Mai's Story
Before Diving into the gory details of Sakina Mai’s illness, I want you to know that you can help her walk again. so Donate for Sakina Mai’s Knee Replacement, as much as you can
For the last two years, 37 years old Sakina Mai, a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan, had been enduring the pain in her right knee joint. She went to consult different doctors and initially the doctors prescribed her some symptomatic treatment. With the passage of time, her pain only worsened and she is now unable to walk on her own. Sakina wants to walk again because with 3 young children, it has become difficult for her to continue doing her daily chores. Not being able to take care of her children was a great distress for her.
After going for re-evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with OA (Osteoarthritis) of the right knee. Knee OA is the result of articular cartilage degeneration. This is typically thought of as degeneration due to age as well as wear and tear. After the diagnosis, the doctor advised Sakina for a Total Knee Replacement surgery. Total Knee Replacement surgery (TKR) is a complex procedure in which the doctor replaces effective joint surfaces with artificial joints.
“This pain has limited my life and has confined me to bed. I can’t take care of my children or feed them. Some days when the pain is bearable, I do as much as I can. Other days I just sadly see them leaving empty stomachs or struggling to cook food for themselves.”
Sakina’s husband is a laborer and he merely earns enough to feed his family. Sakina wants to walk again but her husband cannot afford this costly procedure.
After a lot of distress, Sakina has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to get her happy and healthy as soon as we can. But, it won’t be possible without your help. Sakina wants to walk again, so know that you can get Sakina back on her feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Sakina Mai’s knee replacement as much as you can.
