Sobia Shehzadi's Story

Sobia Shehzadi, a 37-year-old woman from Sheikhupura, has been suffering from neck swelling and pain for five years. She received symptomatic treatment. The lump has been growing in size over the past four months. She consulted a doctor who diagnosed her with Multinodular Goiter (MNG), a condition characterized by enlargement of the thyroid gland due to the presence of multiple nodules. Sobia experiences symptoms like difficulty in breathing, hoarseness, choking sensations, and a feeling of fullness in the neck. The doctor has advised her to undergo a Subtotal Thyroidectomy.

Sobia’s condition gives her extreme fatigue and she faces challenges while managing household tasks and taking care of her children. Her deteriorated health condition has badly impacted her quality of life. Sobia is a housewife and has three children. She lives in a modest two-room rented house. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and brings in just PKR 25,000 monthly. Covering the cost of utility bills (PKR 2500) and house rent (PKR 6000) with an insufficient monthly income is extremely challenging for them. The overwhelming cost of the surgery is beyond the reach of Sobia’s family, which barely makes ends meet.

A glimmer of hope arose in Sobia’s life when her neighbor told her about Transparent Hands. She reached out to us and placed her trust in us.

Sobia described her grief as follows:

“The intense pain due to my neck lump is taking away my strength and courage. I feel tired and unwell. My children are young and I can’t give them my full attention and care. I humbly request you to help me overcome this pain and swelling.”

Transparent Hands is committed to help Sobia Shehzadi and ensure that she regains health. Your contributions will make a lasting impact on her life. After undergoing the much-needed surgery, Sobia’s life will improve significantly.

Let’s bring a positive change in Sobia’s life.

Sobia Shehzadi's Story

Sobia Shehzadi, a 37-year-old woman from Sheikhupura, had been suffering from neck pain and swelling for the past five years. Over the past four months, her lump increased in size and became extremely painful. She faced difficulty while swallowing and breathing. Concerned about her condition, she went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing lab tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed her with Multinodular Goiter (MNG). To relieve her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised subtotal thyroidectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family.

Sobia lived in a modest rented house with her husband and three children. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 25000 per month. With this meager monthly income, they barely made ends meet, and managing the house rent in addition to utility bills and groceries was significantly challenging for them. They found hope when a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands. With hope in her heart, Sobia reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance. Moved by her plea, we registered her case.

On 29th August 2024, Sobia was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital. The surgery was scheduled for the same day. Dr. Ahmed Fawad skillfully performed her subtotal thyroidectomy. Sobia was hospitalized for three days and received post-operative care and medications. On 31st August 2024, Sobia was discharged in a stable condition.

The successful surgery filled her heart with relief and gratitude. Sobia said with teary eyes:

“I can’t believe that the pain which I was bearing for a long time has gone now. I am happy that now I can give attention to my children and have a healthy life.  Words can’t describe how grateful I am. Thanks for your kind support.”

Sobia is recovering and is hopeful to spend her life with new hope and determination. This change was made possible through your support. The way you helped her in her dark time has brought a meaningful difference in her life.

Sobia and her family are incredibly grateful to you for helping her.
