Support Sameen Hamid’s Open Cholecystectomy
Sameen Hamid's Story
Sameen Hamid, a 28-year-old resident of Lahore, has been experiencing persistent pain in her right upper abdomen for the past 3 months, accompanied by episodes of nausea and vomiting. Approximately 7 months ago, Sameen underwent a successful paraumbilical hernia repair surgery through the Transparent Hands.
However, Sameen’s health concerns have now taken a new turn. After a thorough consultation and diagnostic tests, including an ultrasound, Sameen’s doctor has recommended that she undergo an open cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove her gallbladder.
Sameen’s family situation adds to the challenges she is facing. She lives in her own house in Lahore with a joint family setting, with 12 members, including her husband, two children, and her husband’s brothers. Her husband works as a lab technician, while his brothers are daily wage earners, with a combined monthly income of around PKR 50,000.
Despite their efforts, Sameen’s family’s financial condition is not favorable. They struggle to make ends meet, with monthly utility bills amounting to PKR 5,000 and school fees for their children costing PKR 1,000. This financial strain makes it impossible for Sameen’s husband to afford the surgical expenses required for the open cholecystectomy.
“I am in constant discomfort, and this condition is preventing me from fully participating in my family’s daily life,” Sameen says with a heavy heart. “Your financial support can help alleviate my suffering and enable me to regain my health and vitality so that I can once again be an active and contributing member of my household.”
Sameen’s case has been registered with Transparent Hands, and they are committed to providing her with the best possible medical care. However, she is relying on the generosity of donors like you to make this surgery a reality. Please consider donating to Sameen’s open cholecystectomy fund, and help her reclaim her health and her quality of life.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Sameen Hamid's Story
Sameen Hamid, a 28-year-old resident of Lahore, was suffering from acute upper abdomen pain. She faced intolerance to fatty meals and occasional bouts of nausea and vomiting. Despite receiving symptomatic treatment, she didn’t get relief. Over time, it became impossible for her to continue with her daily activities. She went to a doctor for a medical consultation. The doctor did a thorough examination and diagnosed Sameen with symptomatic gallstones—hard mineral deposits in the gallbladder. To relieve the pain and prevent further complications, her doctor advised an open cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder. The financial strain of the surgery was overwhelming for Sameen’s family as they barely make ends meet. Sameen lives in a small rented house with a joint family of six members. Her husband’s meager monthly income is insufficient to meet the household expenses, in addition to the medical bills. Sameen’s condition was draining her emotionally and physically and she was feeling helpless. With hope in her heart, she reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to arrange the surgery for her at our panel hospital. The day of hope arrived. On July 4, 2024, Sameen was admitted to the Lahore Care Hospital. The surgery was scheduled on the same day. Dr. Ahmed Fawad carefully performed her open cholecystectomy and made the surgery successful. On July 5, 2024, Sameen was happily discharged from the hospital. Sameen described her happiness as follows: “When I thought all hope was gone, your kindness brought light. Today marks a new beginning for me. I am so grateful for the support that made my surgery possible. I can never forget your generosity.”
The surgery that once seemed out of reach became a reality just because of you. Through this successful procedure, she can live a pain-free life. She can carry out her household tasks, and eat anything without the fear of having episodes of nausea or vomiting. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors who made this life-changing surgery possible. Your support has given Sameen, a future filled with hope and determination.
