Muhammad Tanveer's Story

Muhammad Tanveer, a 52-year-old man from Lahore, has been experiencing pain in his left lumbar region. Moreover, he faces severe constipation and occasional rectal bleeding. The pain in his lower left side, paired with bleeding per rectum, makes it hard for him to carry on with his daily activities. Concerned about his deteriorating condition, Tanveer visited a hospital where a series of tests were conducted. Tanveer was diagnosed with left-sided colonic carcinoma. The news shook his entire family. His doctor has recommended surgical interventions including an Exploratory Laparotomy, Left Hemicolectomy, and Colostomy. However, the cost of the treatment is overwhelming for Tanveer’s family.

If Tanveer does not undergo surgery, the tumor may grow, spread to other organs, cause bowel obstruction, and ultimately become life-threatening. Delaying surgery may significantly reduce his survival chances and complicate future treatment options.

Tanveer works as a security guard and earns PKR 35,000 per month. His wife, who works as a maid in a hospital, adds another PKR 20,000 to their household income, making their total monthly earnings PKR 55,000. With five children to raise, including school-going kids whose educational fees amount to PKR 12,000 every month, managing household expenses with such a modest income has always been challenging. Their utility bills alone are PKR 2000. They are facing financial hardships and the costly surgery is out of their reach.

Muhammad Tanveer's Story

Muhammad Tanveer, a 52-year-old man from Lahore, had been battling with persistent pain in his left lumbar region, coupled with severe constipation and occasional rectal bleeding. These symptoms disrupted his daily routine. The discomfort became a constant burden, making it difficult for him to carry out even basic tasks at work and home. Tanveer finally decided to consult a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a series of tests, the doctor diagnosed Tanveer with left-sided colonic carcinoma—a form of colon cancer. To treat this life-threatening illness and remove the tumor, the doctor recommended Exploratory Laparotomy for Left Hemicolectomy and Colostomy. However, he couldn’t afford his surgery.

Tanveer works as a security guard, earning PKR 35,000 per month. His wife contributes PKR 20,000 through her job as a maid at a hospital. With a combined income of PKR 55,000 and the responsibility of raising five children, the family struggles to cover everyday expenses. Affording to pay for his surgery was a significant challenge for his family. During this time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands, and his case was promptly registered.

With the help of generous donations, Tanveer was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital on April 10, 2025. Dr. Ahmed Fawad successfully performed the surgery on April 12, 2025. Tanveer received proper post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition.

Tanveer expressed his happiness as follows:

"I had lost hope after the diagnosis, but the support I received changed everything. This surgery has given me new hope. I’m deeply thankful to you for standing by me during this difficult time."

Since his surgery, Tanveer’s pain has subsided significantly. He is gradually regaining strength and can now focus on supporting his family again.
