Ali Burhan's Story

Ali awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery. Please know that your tiny contribution to Ali Burhan’s cause will open up a whole new universe and chances for him. We urge you to donate as much as possible. Every penny that is contributed is much appreciated.

Ali Burhan, a one-year-old boy from Muzafar garh, has not been able to enjoy his early life like other children have. Congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss is his condition. Ali would frequently become ill as a result of persistent high fevers, and he eventually got an ear infection. His parents saw that he was deafeningly not responding to sounds. He was brought to a neighbouring hospital for treatment. He was checked by an ENT specialist. The doctor advised for some tests to be done to be sure of the cause of Ali’s deafness.  After the test reports, the ENT specialist diagnosed Ali with a Sensorineural Hearing Loss, Ali was advised to undergo a Cochlear Implant. A cochlear implant receives sound from the outside environment, processes it, and sends small electric currents near the auditory nerve. These electric currents activate the nerve, which then sends a signal to the brain. The brain learns to recognize this signal and the person experiences this as “hearing”.

The only option for a lasting cure is cochlear implant surgery. Ali will have a modified sense of sound thanks to a medically implanted neuroprosthetic device. Ali’s parents, however, are unable to cover the high expense of the surgery. Ali’s father is the family’s main earner. He works as a salesman for a private company and barely makes PKR. 15,000 a month. He is unable to arrange for Ali’s cochlear implant because he is responsible for a family of six. Ali’s mother described to us:

“My son is a brilliant young man. I have a gut feeling about it. Even though he is unable to communicate, he picks up on cues and responds with his motions, smile, and bright eyes. Kindly help my child in hearing the sounds of existence. If you’re reading this, I’d like to express my gratitude to you.”

Ali’s parents have registered their case with Transparent Hands with the support of their doctor. We’re on a mission to make Ali as happy and healthy as possible. However, we require your assistance in this regard. As, Ali awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery, we ask you donate for his case. Your contribution will provide Ali with the ability to hear.

Ali Burhan's Story

Ali Burhan, a 1-year-old innocent boy from Muzaffargarh, had been battling with his inability to hear the sounds around him since birth. Upon noticing his condition, Ali’s parents went to a doctor. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Ali with Congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL) and recommended Cochlear implant surgery to open the doors to the world of sounds for him. However, Ali’s family faced significant financial constraints and weren’t able to afford the surgery.

Due to his congenital deafness, he was unable to hear the comforting voices of his parents. Moreover, responding to his name was beyond his abilities. The cochlear implant surgery was necessary for him to experience the beauty of the sounds around him.

Ali’s father, the sole provider for the family, works as a salesman in a factory and earns just PKR 15000 per month. Supporting a family of six and covering the utility bills is significantly challenging for him. That’s why the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Ali’s family.

Ali’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and requested assistance.

A day of hope arrived. On 28-05-2024, Ali Burhan was admitted to Ali Medical Centre, Islamabad. An experienced surgeon, Dr. Jawad Ahmed installed the internal component of the cochlear implant device. On 29-05-2024, Ali’s family celebrated his discharge from the hospital.

After six weeks of the successful surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. Ali is regularly attending speech therapy sessions to improve his communication and hearing.

Ali’s parents described their happiness as follows:

“We can’t believe that Ali has been gifted with the ability to hear the sounds around him. It’s like our dream has turned into reality. Our happiness can’t be described in words. We are thankful to you for supporting our son.”

With the cochlear implant surgery, Ali can now learn to speak, hear, and improve his connection to the world. It will open up new opportunities for his education and social integration, giving him a brighter future.

We are thankful to all donors. Their generosity has allowed him to remove a barrier between him and the vibrant world around him.
