Azeem Ullah's Story

Azeem Ullah, a 30-year-old man from Lahore, is struggling with pain and swelling in both of his groins. What began as mild discomfort gradually worsened over time, making even routine movements difficult. The lump in his left groin is increasing in size and has become more painful. Recently, he visited a doctor at a local hospital. After a detailed evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with a left inguinal hernia. It is a condition in which a portion of the intestine pushes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal wall, causing swelling and pain in the groin area. The condition has now progressed to a stage where surgical intervention is the only effective option. The doctors have advised Mesh Hernioplasty to fix the hernia and prevent further complications. If Azeem does not receive the surgery soon, his condition may worsen, leading to strangulation, a serious complication in which the blood supply to the intestine is cut off. This can result in severe pain, intestinal gangrene, and potentially life-threatening damage, requiring emergency surgery.

Currently, Azeem is living in his brother’s house along with his wife and a child. Azeem works as a daily wage laborer and is the sole earning member of his small family. With a monthly income of around PKR 32,000, he tries his best to manage household responsibilities. A major portion of his earnings goes towards supporting daily living costs, including utility bills, and the essential needs of his young child. After meeting these basic expenses, nothing remains that can be set aside for his treatment.

With concern, Azeem shared:

“The pain has started affecting my work and daily life. I try to continue working so I can support my family, but it is becoming difficult. I have been advised to undergo surgery, but I cannot afford it. I wish to recover so I can work without this constant discomfort. Kindly help me.”
