Ayaz Ahmad's Story

Ayaz Ahmad, a 51-year-old man from Lahore, has been suffering from pain and swelling in his right groin that has gradually become more severe over time. As the painful lump continued to increase in size, it became difficult for him to carry out his daily work and support his family. Recently, he visited a doctor at a nearby hospital. After the necessary examinations, the doctor diagnosed him with a right-sided inguinal hernia. It is a condition in which part of the intestine pushes through a weak area in the lower abdominal wall, causing a noticeable bulge and discomfort. To treat his condition and prevent further complications, the doctor advised Mesh Hernioplasty. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is far beyond his family’s financial reach. If Ayaz does not receive the surgery soon, his condition may lead to serious complications such as a strangulated hernia, where the blood supply to the intestine is cut off. This may cause severe pain, infection, and potentially life-threatening damage to his intestines, requiring emergency surgery.

Ayaz works as a laborer and is the sole earning member of his family. He lives with his wife and a child in their modest home in Lahore. He earns just PKR 35,000 per month, which is used to manage household expenses, utility bills of PKR 2,000, educational expenses of PKR 2,000 and other household expenses. After meeting these essential expenses, they have no savings left to afford Ayaz’s much-needed surgery.

Ayaz shared his plea as follows:

“Every day, I go to work despite the pain because my family depends on my income. The swelling has made it difficult to perform even routine tasks, but I cannot afford to stop working. I need your help during this time of need to undergo my life-changing surgery.”
