Farah Naseer's Story
Farah Naseer, a 20-year-old woman from Shikarpur, has been living with nasal blockage and repeated attacks of sinusitis for the past ten years. This condition makes it difficult for her to breathe comfortably and focus on her studies. Concerned about her condition, she underwent an evaluation. After examining her condition, the doctor diagnosed her with a left Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS). It occurs when the wall separating the two nasal passages is displaced, making it difficult to breathe and increasing the risk of recurrent sinus infections. To correct the condition, the doctor has recommended septorhinoplasty. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended surgery, Farah’s condition may continue to worsen. Untreated DNS may lead to nasal obstruction, recurrent sinus infections, chronic mouth breathing, disturbed sleep, frequent headaches, and difficulty carrying out daily activities. Timely surgical treatment is essential to relieve her symptoms, improve breathing, and prevent further complications.
Farah is currently pursuing her education. Her father is the only earning member of the family and holds a private job, earning just PKR 60,000 per month to support a household of seven. Along with Farah, her four siblings are also studying in government educational institutions. The family’s modest income is used to meet the educational and daily living expenses of the entire household, making it impossible to afford the cost of Farah’s surgery.
Farah shared her heartfelt plea as follows:
“For many years, I have struggled to breathe and deal with repeated sinus infections. I want to continue my studies without this constant discomfort, but my family cannot afford the surgery. Kindly help me receive this treatment so I can focus on my education and live a healthier life.”
