Mumtaz Ali's Story

Mumtaz Ali, a 47-year-old man from Hyderabad, has been suffering from upper right abdominal pain for the past seven months. The pain, especially after eating fatty meals, has made it difficult for him to carry out his daily responsibilities and continue working comfortably. Concerned about his worsening condition, he consulted a nearby doctor for a detailed evaluation. After a clinical examination, laboratory investigations, and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed him with cholelithiasis. It is a condition in which hardened deposits, commonly known as gallstones, form inside the gallbladder. To relieve his pain, the doctor has recommended an open cholecystectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond his family’s financial means. Without surgery, Mumtaz’s condition may continue to deteriorate. It may lead to serious complications, including severe inflammation of the gallbladder, blockage of the bile ducts, infection, pancreatitis, and persistent abdominal pain.

Mumtaz works as a security guard at a private company and is the sole earning member of his family. He earns only PKR 35,000 per month, which is used to support his wife and four children. Three of his children are currently studying in government schools. The family’s limited income is barely enough to cover their daily household needs. With six family members depending entirely on his earnings, affording his surgery is impossible.

Mumtaz shared his heartfelt plea as follows:

“Living with this pain has become challenging for me. I dream of the day when I can live without discomfort and spend quality time with my family again. I need your support to undergo this surgery and return to a healthy life.”
