Support Jannat Fatima’s Life-Changing Open Cholecystectomy
Jannat Fatima's Story
For the past two months, Jannat Fatima, a 6-year-old girl from Hyderabad, Sindh, has been living with painful discomfort in her abdomen that keeps persisting after she eats. The pain is often worse after meals, and fatty foods leave her unable to digest them properly, which worries her parents every time she sits down to eat. They took her to a nearby doctor for a careful examination and the necessary tests. After evaluating her condition, the doctor diagnosed her with cholelithiasis, a condition in which gallstones form in the gallbladder and trigger pain, especially in the right upper abdomen after eating. To give Jannat lasting relief and prevent further complications, the doctor has recommended an open cholecystectomy, a surgery to remove the diseased gallbladder. Sadly, the cost of this procedure is far beyond what her family can afford on a tailor’s modest wages. Without timely surgery, Jannat will continue to experience repeated episodes of abdominal pain and digestive distress after meals. Completing the planned treatment is important to ease her discomfort, help her eat more easily, and protect her from worsening gallbladder problems as she grows. Furthermore, if she does not undergo surgery soon, her condition could worsen and lead to serious complications, including acute cholecystitis, biliary obstruction, pancreatitis, and potentially life-threatening sepsis.
Jannat’s father works as a tailor and earns only PKR 25,000 per month, which is the family’s sole source of income. He supports a household of seven. Jannat is the only daughter among her brothers. Her eldest brother is married and lives separately, while two of her remaining brothers are learning a vocational skill and one brother studies along with her. The family spends about PKR 2,000 a month on educational expenses and about PKR 3,000 on utility bills. They live in a modest two-room mud house in a rural area. After covering school needs and daily essentials, there is nothing left for Jannat’s much-needed surgery.
Jannat’s father shared his heartfelt plea as follows:
“My little girl is only six, yet she holds her stomach in pain after so many meals. I stitch clothes from morning until evening so my children can eat and study, but I still cannot give her the care she needs. Please help my daughter receive this life-saving treatment so she can eat without fear and enjoy her childhood again.”
Jannat deserves to grow up free from the pain that has followed her meals for months. Your generosity can help provide the surgery that will restore her comfort and dignity.
