Malaika Shehzadi's Story

Before you proceed to read the gory details of Malaika’s ailments, please know that you can help her. Your donation, however small it may be, will help Malaika get the medical attention she needs. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Malaika’s ileostomy reversal as much as you can.

Nine months ago, Malaika suffered from severe abdominal pain and high fever. At first, the doctors prescribed some medication. However, pain and high fever persisted. Therefore, the surgeon performed an exploratory laparotomy. Exploratory laparotomy is surgery to open up the abdomen. This surgery is a last resort to find the cause of problems that testing cannot diagnose. In an exploratory laparotomy, Malaika was found to have an intestinal (enteric) perforation. The surgeon made a loop ileostomy immediately to save her life. Now, after nine months, Malaika Shehzadi needs an ileostomy reversal surgery. This surgery will restore her bowel movements to normal.

Unfortunately, Malaika’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of reversal surgery. They have exhausted their resources in the previous two surgeries. Her father is the sole earner of the family. He earns PKR 12000 per month. In this measly income, it is difficult for him to put the food on the table, let alone arrange for expensive surgery. He told us:

“I wish no parents have to go through what we are going through. Seeing your child wincing in pain is the worst feeling ever. I hope my darling daughter gets well soon.”

At the age of mere eleven years, Malaika Shehzadi has undergone the pain of a lifetime. We wish to get her rid of this pain as soon as possible. But, it won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Malaika’s Ileostomy reversal as much as you can. Your donations will get Malaika to return to a path of normalcy in her life.
