Hasnat Ahmad's Story
Hasnat Ahmad, aged 41 years, had been suffering from severe pain in his lumbar region that radiated to his legs. He consulted multiple doctors since pain killers were not providing any relief. His MRI report revealed that he had a prolapsed intervertebral disk (PIVD) between the L-4 and L-5 region. For treatment, the neurosurgeon advised a laminectomy and discectomy surgery for him.
Hasnat used to work as a farmer and has five children. Due to his backache, he had to stop working. In these circumstances, the financial situation of their family is not stable. Affording a major neurosurgery is out of question at this point.
“I had to stop working on my fields because of the excruciating pain in my back. My feet used to get completely numb. Since then, our financial situation has deteriorated very rapidly. I fear that I will not be able to send my children to school. On top of all these worries, I have been advised to get a surgery. How can I spend money on myself when my family is already going through such a difficult time?”– said Hasnat with tears in his eyes

Hasnat Ahmad, aged 41 years, suffered from severe lower backache. The pain radiated to his legs and numbed his feet. The condition prevailed for more than a year. He consulted multiple doctors to identify the root cause. At last, on thorough investigation, he was diagnosed with a prolapsed intervertebral disc (PIVD) between the L4 and L5 region. The neurosurgeon advised surgery for its decompression. For this purpose, Hasnat was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital and his laminectomy and discectomy along with decompression was performed by Dr. Ibrar Khan on 03.06.2021. He stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. His backache has reduced since the surgery and he looks forward to resuming his farming work.
