Maryam Khatoon's Story

Maryam Khatoon, a 29-year-old woman from Naushahro Feroze, Sindh, has been suffering from pain and discomfort in her right leg for the past four years. Swelling and prominent veins have made it increasingly difficult for her to stand for long periods and manage her daily household responsibilities. Concerned about her worsening condition, she consulted a doctor, who advised the necessary laboratory investigations. After reviewing the clinical findings and diagnostic test results, the doctor diagnosed her with varicose veins in her right leg and recommended Vein Stripping with Ligation of Perforator Veins. Varicose veins occur when affected veins become enlarged and twisted due to poor valve function, leading to pain, swelling, and discomfort. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended surgery, Maryam’s condition may continue to worsen. Untreated varicose veins may lead to chronic pain, skin ulcers, bleeding, blood clots, and reduced mobility, significantly affecting her health and quality of life.

Maryam is a housewife who lives with her husband and five children in a small makeshift hut in Naushahro Feroze. Her husband is the family’s sole earning member and works as a security guard, earning only PKR 25,000 per month. They have three daughters and two sons. Three of their children are currently studying in government schools. The family’s modest income is barely enough to meet their daily household needs. They are unable to pay for her surgery.

Maryam shared her heartfelt plea as follows:

“Living with constant pain has made even daily tasks difficult. I want to be healthy so that I can take care of my children. Kindly contribute generously to my treatment.”

Maryam’s life can be changed with your support. You can help her undergo varicose vein surgery and relieve her pain.
