Hafizan Bashir Ahmed's Story

Hafizan Bashir Ahmed, a 38-year-old woman from Karachi, has been living with heavy menstrual bleeding and irregular menstrual cycles for the past six years. The prolonged illness has left her physically exhausted and made it increasingly difficult for her to manage daily household responsibilities. Hoping to find relief, she visited a doctor for a thorough evaluation. After conducting the necessary laboratory tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed her with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB). DUB is a condition that causes abnormal and excessive uterine bleeding due to hormonal or other underlying changes. To treat her condition, the doctor recommended Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH) and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (BSO). Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is far beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended surgery, Hafizan may continue to experience persistent heavy bleeding, anemia, severe fatigue, and pelvic discomfort.

Hafizan is a housewife and lives with her husband and five children in a rented home in Karachi. Her husband is the family’s sole earning member and works as a daily wage laborer, earning approximately PKR 20,000 per month. From this modest income, the family pays PKR 12,000 for monthly house rent and PKR 2,500 for utility bills while providing for a household of seven. Their five children are studying in government schools. After meeting basic household expenses, the family has no savings left to afford Hafizan’s much-needed surgery.

Hafizan shared her heartfelt plea as follows:

“For a long time, I have lived with constant weakness and discomfort, making it difficult to take care of my children. My husband works hard, but our income is only enough to cover our basic needs. Kindly help me undergo this much-needed surgery.”

Hafizan is counting on your kindness. You can help her undergo Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy, giving her the opportunity to recover and regain her strength.
