Areesha Shabbir's Story

Areesha Shabbir, a 22-year-old woman from Multan, is 33 weeks pregnant with her second child. She previously gave birth to her first baby through a C-section. During her recent prenatal examination, the doctor carefully assessed her condition and recommended another C-section to ensure the safe delivery of her baby. A repeat C-section is often advised for mothers with a previous C-section procedure to reduce the risk of complications during childbirth and protect the health of both the mother and baby. Unfortunately, the cost of the C-section is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended C-section, Areesha and her baby may face serious health risks. A delayed or unsafe delivery can increase the chances of uterine rupture, severe bleeding, infection, fetal distress, and other complications that may threaten the lives of both the mother and child.

Areesha is a housewife living in a joint family with her husband, young child, and other family members. Her husband and father-in-law both work as labourers, and together they earn just PKR 60,000 per month to support a household of twelve people. A significant portion of their income is spent on household expenses, including approximately PKR 15,000 for monthly utility bills, leaving little to manage the needs of such a large family. Due to financial hardships, they can’t afford Areesha’s C-section.

Areesha said in despair:

“As the time to welcome my baby approaches, I think about nothing besides being able to undergo a safe delivery. Kindly help me during this time of need.”
