Fareeda Saeed's Story

Meet Fareeda Saeed, a 55-year-old woman from Tando Allahyar, Sindh, who has been suffering from visual impairment for the past year. Her reduced eyesight has made it difficult for her to recognize faces. Moreover, she is unable to perform simple tasks like cooking, cleaning, and walking around her home. Worried about her deteriorating eyesight, she visited a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Fareeda with cataract in her left eye. To restore her vision, the doctor has advised left Phaco + IOL surgery. However, the cost of the surgery is out of her family’s reach.

If Fareeda’s condition is left untreated, it may lead to worsening of the disease. Furthermore, it may increase the risk of blindness.

Fareeda Saeed is a widow, and her husband’s death has filled her life with immense challenges. She lives with her young daughter, who is currently pursuing higher education at a university, and her niece, who is still in school. Currently, Fareeda is living at a relative’s house. They provide her with financial support of up to PKR 10,000 per month. From this income, PKR 3500 goes towards utility bills and PKR 2100 towards educational expenses. They have no savings at all to pay for Fareeda’s surgery. During this difficult time, Fareeda reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Fareeda said in despair:

“I miss the time when I could see clearly and perform all my tasks independently. The world is fading before my eyes, and soon, I may not see at all. This surgery can bring back my sight, but I don’t have the means. I request you to kindly support me in undergoing this surgery.”

Fareeda is counting on your kindness. Her quality of life has been reduced, and she wants relief now. Together, we can turn her dark and dull world into a bright one.

Fareeda Saeed's Story

Fareeda Saeed, a 55-year-old woman from Tando Allahyar, Sindh, had spent the past year watching her world grow dimmer. Her eyesight gradually worsened to the point where she struggled to recognize even the faces of her loved ones. Simple, everyday activities like cooking, cleaning, and walking around her home became significant challenges that often left her feeling helpless and anxious. Fearing complete loss of sight, Fareeda visited a doctor at a local hospital. After a detailed examination, she was diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. The doctor advised left-sided Phacoemulsification (Phaco) with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation to restore her vision and help her regain independence. However, the cost of this surgery was beyond her family’s means.

Fareeda’s circumstances were already weighed down by grief and hardships. Since losing her husband, she has faced immense challenges. She now lives with her young daughter, who is pursuing higher education at a university. Her niece also lives with her and is still in school. They all live at a relative’s home, relying on the financial support of just PKR 10,000 per month to cover their basic needs. With such limited means, arranging money for an essential eye surgery was impossible. Holding on to hope, Fareeda reached out to Transparent Hands. Understanding the nature of her case, we registered her swiftly to ensure she could receive the treatment.

On June 13, 2025, Fareeda’s left-sided Phaco + IOL surgery was performed at Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Dr. Yaruq Sami successfully performed her surgery, giving her improved vision.

Fareeda shared her heartfelt thoughts as follows: “My world had turned so dark, and I feared never seeing my loved ones clearly again. Your incredible support brought light back into my life. I can now move around with ease. We will forever remember your kindness.”

Your kindness has given Fareeda a new life full of clarity and dignity.

Her family is deeply grateful for your generosity that brought colors back into her life.
