Almas Mahfooz Ahmed's Story

Almas Mahfooz Ahmed, a 23-year-old woman from Sanghar, has been suffering from rectal bleeding and a painful lump protruding from the back passage for two months. This condition is making even routine activities difficult and uncomfortable for her. Concerned about her worsening condition, she visited a doctor for a detailed examination. After evaluating her condition, the doctor diagnosed her with hemorrhoids and recommended hemorrhoidectomy. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the lower rectum or anus that can cause pain, bleeding, and discomfort during bowel movements. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended surgery, Almas’s condition may continue to worsen. Untreated hemorrhoids may lead to severe pain, prolapse of the hemorrhoids, clot formation (thrombosed hemorrhoids) and anemia due to chronic blood loss. Timely surgical treatment is essential to relieve her symptoms, prevent further complications, and improve her quality of life.

Almas’s husband is currently unemployed. She is currently living at her father’s home, where she and her young son are financially dependent on him. Her father works as a daily wage labourer and earns only PKR 18,000 per month. His modest income is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving no possibility of affording Almas’s surgery.

Almas shared her plea as follows:

“This illness has made my life challenging. My father is doing everything he can to support our family, but his income is only enough for our basic needs. Kindly help me undergo this surgery so I can recover and take care of my child.”
