Muhammad Taha Tayyab's Story

Muhammad Taha Tayyab is a one-year-old boy from Rawalpindi who has been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Activities like crying and feeding make him gasp for air. His parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Taha with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is a congenital heart defect that affects the normal flow of blood through the heart. Just a few months after he was born, he underwent a Left Blalock-Taussig Shunt surgery to improve blood flow to his lungs. This surgery provided temporary relief. After careful evaluation, his doctor has now recommended open-heart surgery for Total Correction to repair his heart defects permanently. Unfortunately, the cost of this life-saving surgery is far beyond his family’s financial means.

If Taha does not undergo surgery, his condition may lead to:

• Increased risk of heart failure
• Severely limited physical growth
• Chronic oxygen deprivation

Muhammad Taha lives with his parents and extended family in a rented home in Rawalpindi. His father and grandfather are the family’s earning members, and together they earn just PKR 80,000 per month. However, PKR 35,000 is spent on house rent, while another PKR 15,000 goes towards utility bills, leaving limited income to meet the household’s daily expenses. Given their financial situation, they can’t afford Taha’s life-saving surgery.

Muhammad Taha’s parents shared their heartfelt plea as follows:
