Imdad Ali's Story
Imdad Ali, a 52-year-old man from Hyderabad, has been suffering from pain in his lumbar region for the past two years. He has a history of renal surgery and now experiences a lump at the previous surgical site in the lumbar region. Activities like standing, walking, and bending have become increasingly difficult for him. Worried, Imdad went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Imdad with Lumbar Incisional Hernia. It is a defect in the abdominal wall that develops in the lumbar region (lower back area). His doctor has advised mesh repair surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is out of his financial reach.
If Imdad’s condition is left untreated, his hernia may become incarcerated or strangulated. These conditions require immediate medical attention.
Imdad lives in a modest home with his wife. He is the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer, and makes just PKR 15,000 per month. With utility bills, food, and other living expenses, they are struggling to make ends meet. With each passing day, Imdad’s condition is worsening and his quality of life has been badly affected. Following a previous renal surgery, he developed a noticeable lump at the surgical site in his lumbar region. Over time, the lump grew larger and more painful, making everyday activities like standing, walking, and bending increasingly difficult. Concerned about his condition, Imdad consulted a local hospital where he underwent a thorough medical evaluation. After careful examination and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with a Lumbar Incisional Hernia.
The recommended treatment was hernioplasty to strengthen the abdominal wall and prevent further complications like progression in size and pain. However, the cost of this essential surgical procedure was far beyond Imdad’s means. He lives with his wife in a modest home and is the sole breadwinner of the household. He works as a daily wage laborer, earning only PKR 15,000 per month. With such limited income, the family struggles to cover basic needs, leaving no room for surgical expenses. During this time of despair, Imdad contacted Transparent Hands and asked us to register his case.
On June 30, 2025, he was admitted to Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Dr. Tek Chand Maheshwari successfully performed the hernioplasty on the next day. The procedure went smoothly, and after receiving proper post-operative care, Imdad was discharged in stable condition on July 4, 2025.
Imdad shared his gratitude by saying: “For years, I suffered with pain that made even simple movements difficult. Today, I can move freely without fear or discomfort. This surgery has given me back my strength and independence. I am truly thankful to everyone who supported me and made this life-changing surgery possible.”
