Munaza Khursheed's Story
Meet Munaza Khursheed, a 52-year-old widow from Multan, who is suffering from blurred vision in her right eye. About a year ago, she experienced an eye injury that severely affected her eyesight. She later underwent Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV) and removal of the dropped lens, but her vision could not be fully restored. As her condition continued to affect her daily life, she visited a doctor for further evaluation. After the necessary examination, the doctor diagnosed her with right aphakia. Aphakia is a condition in which the natural lens of the eye is absent, as in this case after surgery, resulting in blurred vision and difficulty focusing. To restore her eyesight, the doctor has recommended Right Scleral Fixation with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended surgery, Munaza’s vision may continue to deteriorate. Over time, her condition may lead to permanent vision loss or blindness in the affected eye.
Munaza is a widow who lives with her family in accommodation provided by a local Mosque in Multan. After the death of her husband, her son has become the family’s sole earning member. He serves as an imam at the Mosque and earns only PKR 15,000 per month. From this modest income, the family manages educational expenses of PKR 2,000, utility bills of PKR 2,000, and all other household needs for a family of five. Due to their financial hardships, they can’t afford Munaza’s eye surgery.
Munaza shared her heartfelt plea as follows:
“Losing my husband was one of the greatest hardships of my life, and now my poor eyesight has made even daily tasks difficult. My son works hard to support our family, but his income is only enough to meet our basic needs. Kindly help me undergo this much-needed surgery.”
