Maroofa Wali's Story

“Maroofa is my firstborn. The apple of my eye. The news of her disease swept us away. I do not have the heart to imagine a life without her. We have circled back and forth to a million hospitals and none of them can help me. Never have I ever felt this helpless and weak before. Please help Transparent Hands keep Maroofa’s heart beating. They are my only hope.” -Maroofa Wali’s Father

At birth, Maroofa Wali was a meek and feeble baby. Her deteriorating health became a source of perpetual distress for her parents. Despite her mother’s utmost efforts, Maroofa failed to gain even an ounce for the next 3 months. Moreover, she fell prey to multiple chest infections which shackled her health further. At the age of 4 months, Maroofa’s parents took her to the hospital. Later on, after a thorough check-up, the cardiologist diagnosed her with a congenital defect known as VSD. Ventricular Septal Defect or VSD is a hole in the wall which separates the two lower chambers of the heart.

The cardiologist told Maroofa’s parents that to keep Maroofa’s heart beating, she will have to undergo open-heart surgery.

Maroofa’s parents have circled back and forth to various local hospitals but they were not able to get any help. Maroofa’s father used to work as a cook. Due to the pandemic cut downs and debilitating job market he has been out of work since March. In these circumstances, he cannot even keep his household running. Let alone arrange for his daughter’s surgery. Therefore, we urge you to please donate to keep Maroofa’s heart beating.

At last, Maroofa’s parents have registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to get her healthy and happy as soon as possible. All we need now is your earnest donation. Please donate and help us keep Maroofa’s heart beating. Donate now.

Maroofa Wali's Story

Maroofa Wali, 4 months old, failed to gain weight since she was born. She also suffered from repeated chest infections. On complete medical check-up, she was diagnosed with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and advised surgical intervention. For this reason, Maroofa was admitted in Ittefaq Hospital and her open heart surgery for VSD closure was carried out by Dr. Asim Khan on 24.12.2020. She stayed in the hospital for eight days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Maroofa’s condition has improved since her surgery. The surgery was conducted with the support of Pakistan Children Heart foundation and other donors.
