Mohsin Ara's Story
Mohsin Ara, a 37-year-old widow from Hyderabad, has been living with upper right abdominal pain for nearly eight months. The pain often worsens after meals, especially when she eats fatty foods, making it difficult for her to carry out her daily responsibilities and take care of her young daughter. Concerned about her worsening health, she visited a nearby doctor for a thorough evaluation. After conducting the necessary clinical examination, laboratory investigations, and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed her with cholelithiasis. It is a condition in which hardened deposits, commonly known as gallstones, form inside the gallbladder. To relieve her symptoms, the doctor has recommended Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her financial means. Without the recommended surgery, her condition may continue to worsen. Gallstones can lead to severe inflammation of the gallbladder, blockage of the bile ducts, infection, pancreatitis, and persistent abdominal pain that can significantly affect her health and quality of life. Mohsin Ara is a widow who works as a teacher at a private school, earning just PKR 20,000 per month. She is the sole provider for her family and lives with her young daughter in a rented home in Hyderabad. Every month, PKR 10,000 of her income is spent on house rent, leaving very little to manage food, her daughter’s educational needs, and other household expenses. With such limited financial resources, affording the surgery is not possible for her.

“As a mother, my greatest responsibility is to care for my daughter, but this constant pain has made even daily tasks difficult. My modest income is only enough to meet our basic needs, and I have no way to afford this surgery. Kindly help me undergo this much-needed treatment so that I can live a healthy life.”
