Rameen Fatima's Story

Rameen awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery. Before you read the heartbreaking facts of Rameen Fatima’s story, keep in mind that your donations can help her develop the valuable sense of hearing which she is unaware of. Your contributions, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in her life. So,  urge you to please donate to her cause.

Rameen Fatima, a five-year-old resident of Sialkot, has not been able to fully enjoy her childhood. Rameen has Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). Her parents observed that she was not responding or reacting to sounds when she was only a year old. They took her to a local hospital. An ENT specialist suggested some tests to diagnose. After the test reports came, the doctor recommended that they should get Rameen a Cochlear Implant. A cochlear implant receives sound from the outside environment, processes it, and sends small electric currents near the auditory nerve. These electric currents activate the nerve, which then sends a signal to the brain. The brain learns to recognize this signal and the person experiences this as “hearing”.

Rameen’s father barely makes enough money to support his family. Being the sole earner in the family, raising a family of six in a meager income is difficult enough for him. He is unable  to afford this expensive procedure. He has no friends or family who can help him financially. Rameen’s father expressed his grief to Transparent Hands:

“It is the most depressing thing for a father to know that his child can’t even hear his voice. I want to do everything in my power to just let my child hear our voices, but my financial condition is not allowing me to do it. Please help me if  you can.”

Fortunately for Rameen, she has now been connected with Transparent Hands, and we are committed to assisting her and restoring her sense of hearing. However, this will not be possible without your generous support As Rameen awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery, we strongly urge you to contribute as much as possible to Rameen Fatima’s Cochlear Implant Surgery.

Rameen Fatima's Story

Five-year-old Rameen Fatima, a resident of Sialkot, was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Her parents were unaware of her condition until she turned one.
