Ayesha Bibi's Story

Ayesha Bibi, a 52-year-old widow from Kasur, is suffering from upper right abdominal pain and swelling that worsens after meals. Her condition is accompanied by intolerance to fatty meals. This condition makes it difficult to perform even routine household activities. Concerned about her health, she visited a doctor for a detailed evaluation. After conducting the necessary examinations, the doctor diagnosed her with Cholelithiasis. It is a condition in which hardened deposits form inside the gallbladder. To ease her pain, the doctor has recommended open cholecystectomy but her family can’t afford her treatment. If Ayesha does not undergo the recommended surgery, her condition may continue to deteriorate. Gallstones can lead to repeated attacks of severe pain, gallbladder infection, blockage of the bile ducts, pancreatitis, and other serious complications.

Ayesha lives with her three children in a modest rented home in Kasur. Since the passing of her husband, the family has been left without any earning member. They rely entirely on the financial assistance provided by Ayesha’s siblings, who help them manage their daily expenses as much as they can. Despite this support, the family struggles to cover essential needs, including PKR 5,000 for educational expenses and PKR 1,000 for monthly utility bills. With no stable source of income, affording Ayesha’s surgery is beyond their means.
