Naseem Akhtar's Story

Naseem Akhtar, a 38-year-old woman from Bahawalpur, is living with pain and swelling near her abdominal area. What began as discomfort has gradually turned into a painful lump at the site of her previous C-section scar. Over the past nine months, the swelling has increased in size, making her daily routine difficult and leaving her worried about her health. Recently, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough evaluation, Naseem was diagnosed with an incisional hernia at the Pfannenstiel scar. It is a bulge that develops at the site of a previous lower abdominal scar, causing pain, swelling, and discomfort. Considering her past surgical history, including four C-sections and an open cholecystectomy performed two years ago, her surgeon has advised Mesh Hernioplasty with Lipectomy to treat her condition.

If Naseem does not receive the required surgery, her condition may continue to worsen and cause:

  • Increasing pain and discomfort
  • Further enlargement of the hernia
  • Risk of serious complications if the hernia remains untreated.

Naseem is a housewife and a mother of four children. Her husband, Ghulam Mustafa, works as a labourer and earns around PKR 35,000 per month. He is the only earning member of the family, while five dependents rely on his income. The family lives in a small brick house in a rural area of Bahawalpur, where their limited earnings are spent on food, utility bills of PKR 2,000, children’s educational expenses of PKR 10,000, and other basic household needs. Affording Naseem’s surgery is impossible for them.

Naseem shared her plea as follows:

“For many months, I have been suffering from pain and swelling in my abdomen. The lump is increasing, and it has become difficult for me to manage my household work and take care of my children. My husband works hard as a labourer, but his income is only enough for our daily needs. I need your support so I can receive my surgery, recover from this pain, and return to my family with better health.”

Naseem is relying on your generosity.
