Restore Naji Ballu’s Eyesight
Naji Ballu's Story
Naji Ballu, a 55-year-old widow from Hyderabad, Sindh, is battling with the growing darkness in her world. For the past year, she has suffered from dimness of vision in her left eye. Every day tasks have become increasingly difficult—cooking a meal, or even recognizing the faces of her loved ones, now require significant effort. Naji went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a medical examination, the doctor diagnosed her with a cataract in her left eye and recommended left Phaco + IOL surgery to restore her vision. Unfortunately, Naji’s financial circumstances have placed this life-changing surgery out of her reach.
Naji’s condition is growing worse with time. If she does not undergo surgery soon, the cataract may lead to complete vision loss in her left eye. This not only threatens her independence but also leaves her more vulnerable and helpless in an already difficult life.
Naji lives in a makeshift house built from wooden planks, a modest shelter that barely shields her from the changing seasons. Naji’s husband passed away years ago, leaving her to bear life’s challenges on her own. She has one daughter who supports the family by working as a seamstress, earning around PKR 12,000 per month. But that small income is barely enough to put food on the table and pay for basic necessities.
Adding to Naji’s hardships is her mentally ill son, who is currently undergoing treatment. Despite her best efforts, the family cannot gather the money needed for Naji’s eye surgery.
With a heavy heart, Naji shared:
“I want to see my children’s faces clearly and live with dignity. But this darkness keeps growing. I pray for just one chance to see properly again. Kindly help me.”
Your generous contributions can help bring light back into Naji’s life. Together, we can help her reclaim her vision, her confidence, and her ability to live with independence and hope.
Let’s help Naji see again.

Naji Ballu's Story
Naji Ballu, a 55-year-old widow from Hyderabad, Sindh, had been living with a growing darkness that slowly took away her independence. For nearly a year, she experienced dimness of vision in her left eye, making routine activities challenging. Cooking meals, moving around safely, and recognizing familiar faces became daily challenges that affected her confidence and quality of life. Concerned about her worsening vision, Naji visited a local hospital, where a doctor conducted a thorough medical examination. She was diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. The doctor advised left phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation to restore her sight. However, the cost of surgery was beyond her reach.
Naji lives in a small makeshift house constructed from wooden planks. After losing her husband years ago, she has faced life’s hardships alone. Her only daughter works as a seamstress, earning around PKR 12,000 per month. This income is barely sufficient for food and basic necessities. Affording to pay for Naji’s surgery was impossible for them. During this challenging period, Naji reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After understanding her situation, we registered her case.
On July 25, 2025, Naji’s cataract surgery was performed at the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza performed the surgery using the Ultima Lens. The procedure went smoothly, and Naji was given adequate for post-operative care.
Naji shared her feelings in the following words:
“I was losing hope as darkness slowly took over my life. I could not recognize familiar faces, and every day felt frightening. After the surgery, I can see clearly again and feel independent. Your support restored my vision and confidence, and I am grateful for it.”
Today, Naji’s vision has significantly improved, allowing her to manage daily tasks independently once again. She can now move confidently, care for her home, and reconnect with her surroundings. She extends her heartfelt gratitude to you for giving her the gift of clear vision and independence.
