Sidra Saleem's Story

Meet Sidra Saleem, an 11-year-old girl from Hyderabad, Sindh, who has been struggling with persistent nasal blockage and recurrent sinusitis for the past year. After a clinical examination and necessary investigations by an ENT specialist, doctors confirmed that she has a left-sided nasal polyp that is obstructing her airway and causing frequent infections. The recommended treatment is a left-sided nasal polypectomy. It is a relatively straightforward surgical procedure that will remove the polyp, restore normal breathing, and relieve her chronic discomfort. Unfortunately, the surgery cost is beyond her family’s financial means. If the polyp is left untreated, Sidra’s symptoms are likely to worsen. Chronic nasal obstruction can lead to poor sleep, fatigue, difficulty concentrating in school, and recurrent sinus infections that may require antibiotics or more invasive interventions later on. Sidra’s father works as a security guard for a private organization, earning a monthly salary of approximately PKR 42,000. After covering essential expenses, such as house loan repayments, utilities, food, clothing, and the children’s school needs, there is barely any money left.
