Sabar Jan's Story

Sabar Jan is an old lady suffering from osteoarthritis due to which she cannot walk or stand properly. She also cannot take care of her household chores. As her family cannot afford to pay for her knee arthroplasty, she is hoping that generous donors like you will help her. Support Sabar Jan’s Knee Arthroplasty with as little as $10.

Sabar Jan, a 59-year-old resident of Mardan, lives in a small house. She has been going through severe osteoarthritis which has worsened over the last year. Her leg pain and swelling are getting worse with time. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of arthritis and often affects knee joints. It causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out and the surfaces of the joint to wear off, which means that the knee doesn’t move as smoothly as it should. It might feel painful and stiff. It can occur at any age but is more common in women over 50. Her husband took her to a local hospital to consult a doctor who advised some diagnostic tests. After evaluating her reports, the doctor advised her to undergo knee arthroplasty. It is a surgical procedure for knees damaged by arthritis. Metal and plastic parts are used to cap the ends of the bones that form the knee joint along with the kneecap.

She is living with her husband, mother-in-law, and her four children. Her son is the only breadwinner in the family with a total income of PKR 22,000 per month. The surgery is very costly and the poor family cannot afford it on their own. Her son said with teary eyes:

“My mother used to be very active, but now she struggles to even take care of basic tasks. She is precious to us and we cannot bear to see her in so much pain. Please donate to bring relief to her life.”

They contacted Transparent Hands to register Sabar Jan’s case. Please contribute to make it possible for us to provide knee surgery to this suffering mother. Support Sabar Jan’s Knee Arthroplasty as much as you can.
