Raji Siddique's Story

For the past four years, 56-year-old Raji Siddique from Hyderabad has been living with pain that has gradually made daily life more difficult. Pain in the upper right side of her abdomen and an inability to digest fatty meals have affected her health and limited her ability to carry out routine household responsibilities. Recently, Raji went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After undergoing laboratory tests and an ultrasound scan, she was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis (gallstones), a condition that develops when hardened deposits form inside the gallbladder. To relieve her symptoms, the doctor has advised Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the affected gallbladder.

Raji lives with her family in a mud house in Hyderabad. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer, earning approximately PKR 20,000 per month. Their son also supports the family through daily wage work, earning another PKR 20,000. Together, they provide for a household of seven family members, leaving very little to cover unexpected expenses. Given their financial situation, the cost of Raji’s surgery is beyond their reach.
