Rani Mai's Story

Rani Mai, a 33-year-old woman from Multan, is suffering due to deteriorated vision that has made her daily life extremely difficult. She experiences blurry and dim vision, which affects her ability to carry out even simple household tasks. Due to her weak vision, Rani Mai faces difficulty with her routine tasks. Activities such as cooking, walking safely, recognizing faces, and taking care of her child have become challenging for her. Recently, Rani Mai visited a doctor at a local hospital. After undergoing medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with cataract in her right eye. It is the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. Her doctor advised a right-sided Phaco + IOL surgery. If Rani Mai does not undergo the recommended surgery, her vision may deteriorate over time. The cataract can eventually lead to severe visual impairment and even blindness in the affected eye.

Rani lives in a modest home with her husband and a child. Her husband, the sole breadwinner of the family, works as a laborer and earns only PKR 20,000 per month. This modest income is used to manage all household expenses for their small family of three. The family faces immense financial hardships and can’t afford Rani’s much-needed cataract surgery.

Rani said in despair:

“My eyesight is becoming weaker every day. I cannot clearly see the faces of people around me, and this makes me worried about my future. I want to take care of my child, but my husband cannot afford my treatment. Kindly contribute to my treatment.”
