Abdul Raheem Gained the Hearing Ability
Abdul Raheem's Story
Abdul Raheem, a 4-year-old resident of Pattoki, has been facing the challenges of hearing loss since the age of one. Concerned about their child’s inability to respond to sounds, his parents took him to the nearest hospital for a diagnosis. After undergoing several tests, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery as the best option for Abdul Raheem to regain his hearing.
However, the financial burden associated with the surgery weighed heavily on Abdul Raheem’s father. He found himself with no viable options to cover the costs of this life-changing procedure. Filled with hope and seeking assistance, Abdul Raheem’s family contacted Transparent Hands for financial support.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, Abdul Raheem’s journey toward hearing began. Transparent Hands coordinated with GIMS Hospital in Gambat, where on March 24, 2024, Dr. Maqbool successfully performed the surgery to place the internal component of the cochlear implant. The procedure was a success, and within two days, Abdul Raheem was discharged from the hospital, filled with renewed hopes for his future.
Over the next six weeks, the external component of Abdul Raheem’s cochlear implant was installed. His family sought the expertise of a speech therapist to ensure ongoing speech therapy to maximize his hearing capabilities. They eagerly anticipated his response to the new sounds he would soon be able to hear.
Abdul Raheem’s story is a testament to the power of medical interventions and the impact of community support. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of medical professionals, he was allowed to experience the world of sound. With his cochlear implant in place and ongoing speech therapy, Abdul Raheem’s family remains hopeful for his future development and the milestones he will achieve. The journey toward hearing is a remarkable one, and Abdul Raheem’s story serves as an inspiration to others facing similar obstacles.
