Abdul Rauf’s Vision Was Improved Through Cataract Surgery
Abdul Rauf's Story
Abdul Rauf, a 44-year-old man from Bhakkar, was gradually losing his ability to see clearly. He began struggling with dim and blurry vision, which made even simple daily tasks extremely challenging. His deteriorating eyesight affected his ability to work and support his family. Concerned about his worsening condition, Abdul Rauf visited a local hospital for a thorough evaluation. After undergoing detailed examination, he was diagnosed with a dislocated lens in the anterior chamber of his left eye. To restore his sight and prevent further complications, the doctor advised Left Intracapsular Cataract Extraction (ICCE), Anterior Vitrectomy, and Scleral Fixation of an Intraocular Lens (IOL).
Unfortunately, the cost of this surgery was far beyond Abdul Rauf’s financial means. He lives in a modest two-room brick house in Bhakkar with his joint family of eleven members, including his wife and two children. Currently unemployed due to his vision impairment, Abdul Rauf relies on his brother and niece. Their combined income is barely sufficient to cover basic needs, making it impossible to afford eye surgery. During this difficult time, Abdul Rauf’s family approached Transparent Hands, and his case was registered.
On October 7, 2025, Abdul Rauf was admitted to the Bakhtawar Amin Trust Hospital in Multan. Dr. Safeet Shehbaz Khan successfully performed the Left Intracapsular Cataract Extraction, Anterior Vitrectomy, and Scleral Fixation of IOL on October 8, 2025. An Optima lens was used during the procedure to ensure stable and clear vision. The surgery was smooth, and Abdul Rauf received proper post-operative care. He was discharged in stable condition on the same day of surgery.
Abdul Rauf shared his feelings as follows:
“My vision was deteriorating, and I could no longer support my family or manage daily tasks. I felt helpless and worried about the future. With your support, my eye surgery was successful, and I can see clearly again. I am truly thankful to you for restoring my sight and giving me hope and independence.”
Today, Abdul Rauf is gradually regaining confidence in daily life. Through his improved vision, he can now perform tasks independently and actively participate in family responsibilities.
Your support has restored Abdul Rauf’s sight, giving him the chance to live with independence, and new hope.
