Abdul Samad Successfully Underwent Cochlear Implant Surgery

Abdul Samad's Story

Abdul Samad, a 2-year-old boy from Rajanpur, had been living in a world of silence. Unlike other children of his age, he didn’t turn his head when his parents or siblings spoke to him. While playing with his friends, he often watched in quiet confusion, unable to understand why he couldn’t communicate and laugh with them the same way. Concerned by his lack of response to even loud sounds, Abdul Samad’s parents decided to consult a doctor. After a comprehensive examination and hearing assessments, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). To give Abdul Samad a chance to experience the world of sounds and speech, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery.

However, this procedure came with costs that Abdul Samad’s family simply couldn’t afford. They live in a modest home in Rajanpur. His father, employed in the police force, earns PKR 55,000 per month. This amount is just enough to cover their essential household expenses, including utility bills and food for their family of seven. Saving up for such an expensive surgery was out of the question. Determined to help their son, Abdul Samad’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands with hope in their hearts. After understanding the situation, we promptly registered his case.

On May 21, 2025, Abdul Samad was admitted to Evercare Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Imran Saeed successfully performed the surgery to insert the internal cochlear implant. The surgery was a success,  and Abdul Samad was discharged in stable condition on May 22, 2025.

Six weeks after the surgery, Abdul Samad received the external component of the cochlear implant. He is now undergoing speech therapy sessions, which will help him learn to speak properly. Expressing their relief and gratitude, Abdul Samad’s family said:
