Alizah Bibi's Story

In the small town of Sindh, 6-year-old girl Alizah had been living in a world of silence due to congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents noticed her hearing impairment when she turned one. This prompted them to seek a medical consultation for their innocent daughter.

After extensive consultations and examinations, her doctors recommended cochlear implant surgery for Alizah. However, her father, burdened by financial instability, felt an immense sense of helplessness.

Transparent Hands, moved by their heartfelt plea, registered Alizah’s case, offering a lifeline to the family. With the support of compassionate donors, she was admitted to GIMS Hospital, where Dr. Maqbool Ahmad successfully installed the internal component of the cochlear implant on June 6, 2024. After one day, Alizah was discharged from the hospital, marking the beginning of her new journey.

After six weeks, the external implant was installed successfully. Alizah is eagerly learning words and taking small but significant steps toward communication through her speech therapy sessions.

Alizah’s family described their happiness as follows:

This milestone has enabled Alizah to hear and experience the world around her. Her surgery has enabled her to focus on her studies and pursue a life free from obstacles.
