Almas Bibi 's Story

Almas Bibi, a two-year-old girl from Quetta, has faced the challenges of congenital sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Unable to respond to her parents’ voices, Almas’s family grew increasingly concerned about her condition. After a series of diagnostic tests, the diagnosis was confirmed: sensorineural deafness. However, during this darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of cochlear implant surgery—a groundbreaking procedure that could potentially transform Almas’s life. The only obstacle standing in their way was the high cost of the surgery, which Almas’s financially unstable family simply couldn’t afford. Filled with hope and desperation, Almas’s father reached out to Transparent Hands, seeking a lifeline for his beloved daughter.

Their plea for help was answered when Almas was admitted to the National Hospital, Lahore on 11-08-2023, where Dr. Naveed Aslam skillfully performed the cochlear implant surgery, successfully fixing the internal component. With the operation deemed a success, Almas was discharged after just one day, filled with anticipation for the journey ahead. However, the path to fully restored hearing was still unfolding. Weeks later, she returned to the hospital, where the external component of her cochlear implant was fitted, opening the floodgates to a world filled with the symphony of sound.

Through a series of dedicated speech therapy sessions, Almas began to recognize and comprehend the beauty of sound. This happiest moment marked the beginning of a new and captivating chapter in her life—one brimming with the magic of language.

Under the expert guidance of a skilled speech therapist, she started to hear and learn. The cochlear implant served as her beacon of hope, unlocking doors to learning, companionship, and fulfillment in her life.
