Amal Noor 's Story

Four-year-old Amal Noor, a resident of Sheikhupura, had been facing the challenge of hearing impairment since birth. When she reached her first year, her parents noticed something amiss—she did not respond to their voices, causing deep concern. Determined to understand the cause, they sought medical assistance at the local hospital. Following a series of tests and consultations, the heartbreaking diagnosis came forth: Amal was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss, an obstacle preventing her from experiencing the world of sound.  The doctor advised her to undergo cochlear implant surgery which involves a small electronic device that stimulates the cochlear nerve, allowing her to hear sounds.

She was discharged from the hospital after one day, feeling hopeful about learning new words to show her feelings. The surgery helped her world become full of sounds instead of silence

After a few weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was also fixed followed by a series of speech therapy sessions to guide her in developing language and communication skills. Now with the guidance of speech therapists, she could respond back to her parents’ voice and she found a new way to express her love and connection with loved ones.
