Dost Ali is Thankful to You for Relieving His Pain with Hernioplasty

Dost Ali's Story

Dost Ali, a 26-year-old man from Matiari, Sindh, had been living with pain and swelling in his left groin for the past nine years. At first, the discomfort was manageable. Over time, the lump gradually increased in size and the pain became more frequent. Everyday activities, such as walking, bending, lifting objects, and carrying out routine tasks, became increasingly uncomfortable. In the early stages of his condition, Dost Ali took medicines prescribed by a doctor, but they provided only temporary relief. As his symptoms continued to worsen, he visited a local hospital for a detailed evaluation. After undergoing the necessary tests and a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a left-sided inguinal hernia. This condition occurs when a portion of the intestine or other abdominal tissue pushes through a weak area in the groin, causing a painful swelling. To repair the hernia and prevent further complications, the doctor recommended mesh hernioplasty.

For Dost Ali, affording the surgery was impossible. He lives in a modest home with his joint family of nine members, including his wife and four children. He works as a daily wage laborer and earns approximately PKR 24,000 per month. One of his brothers also works as a laborer, and together they earn around PKR 48,000 each month. Their combined income is used to meet the basic needs of the entire family, leaving no savings for surgical treatment. With no way to afford the surgery, Dost Ali reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Moved by his plea, we registered his case for treatment.

On June 10, 2026, Dost Ali was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. His mesh hernioplasty was successfully performed by Dr. Shahzad Soomro. After receiving post-operative care and observation, he was discharged in stable condition on June 11, 2026.
