Hatim Alam, a 3-year-old resident of Okara, faces a challenge—she cannot hear the world around her. Her parents consulted with doctors, who shared a glimmer of hope in the form of a cochlear implant surgery.

Sadly, Hatim’s family is unable to afford the expensive surgery that could change her life. Understanding the urgency and the potential for Hatim’s future, her case was quickly registered with Transparent Hands.

With the unwavering support of Transparent Hands and the kindness of generous donors, Hatim was admitted to GIMS Hospital, Gambat. On a hopeful day, February 20, 2024, Dr. Maqbool, a skilled surgeon, successfully implanted the internal component of the cochlear implant. After just two days, Hatim left the hospital, her heart brimming with newfound hope.

Guided by the expertise of dedicated healthcare professionals and the generosity of donors, Hatim embarked on a journey of rediscovery. Over six weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was carefully fitted, accompanied by regular speech therapy sessions. These sessions were designed to help Hatim gain hearing ability.

Hatim’s journey was not just about reclaiming the gift of hearing; it was about unearthing her unique voice. Each speech therapy session became an essential stepping stone, empowering Hatim to master language and communication. With determination, she opened doors to a world where her thoughts and emotions could be shared and understood.
