Iqra Noor’s Heart Defects Have Been Corrected Through Surgery

Post op wm

Iqra Noor's Story

Iqra Noor, a 3-year-old girl from Lower Dir, KPK, had been battling with severe health challenges since the start of her life. Unlike other children of her age, who spend their days playing and running freely, Iqra struggled with every breath. Even the smallest physical activity left her exhausted, and her lips and fingertips often turned blue due to a lack of oxygen. Deeply concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a local hospital. After a comprehensive evaluation, she was diagnosed with a complex combination of congenital heart defects: Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), Complete Atrioventricular Canal (CAVC), Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), and Bilateral Superior Vena Cava. To save her life and relieve her symptoms, the doctor recommended a Bilateral CP Shunt through open-heart surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family.

Iqra lived in a modest home with his joint family of nine members. Her father, an Imam and teacher at a local madrassah, works hard to provide for the family but earns only PKR 45,000 per month. With so many dependents and limited income, arranging money for such a major cardiac surgery was far beyond their capacity. Desperate for help, the family reached out to Transparent Hands. After verifying her medical and financial information, we registered her case.

On June 16, 2025, Iqra was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan performed the Bilateral CP Shunt procedure through open-heart surgery on June 17, 2025. The operation was carried out with utmost care. After receiving post-operative management in the intensive care unit, she was discharged in stable condition on June 21, 2025.

With tears of relief, her father said:
“We were living in fear for our daughter’s life. Thanks to your generosity, she has been given a chance to breathe and live like other children. We are forever grateful for your kindness that saved Iqra’s life.”

Iqra is now recovering well, with her breathing improved and her energy levels gradually increasing. Her family is deeply thankful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation.

Your generosity gave their daughter a chance to live a life filled with possibilities.
