Iznah Saeed's Story

Iznah Saeed, a five-year-old Haripur resident, was born with congenital sensorineural hearing loss, a condition that has left her in a world of silence. Her parents noticed that she was not responding to their voices when she was just one year old, and their worst fears were confirmed by medical tests and consultations with the doctors. She was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness. Her doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. Izna’s family could not afford the procedure. In a desperate attempt to get help, they contacted Transparent Hands, where the power of collective kindness gave her a chance to restore her hearing.  

She was admitted to Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawwad skillfully performed the cochlear implant surgery on 7-06-2023. The doctor successfully implanted the internal component with accuracy and expertise, constituting an important step in her quest for hearing restoration. After just one day in the hospital, she was discharged with renewed hope. 

Izna’s complete recovery of hearing was a gradual process. After a few weeks, the skilled doctor inserted the external component of the cochlear implant. She will be able to recognize and process sounds after going through several speech therapy sessions. This life-changing moment opened up a whole new world for her, filled with wonder and the intricacies of language.

Iznah Saeed received support from a skilled speech therapist who guided her through speech therapy sessions, helping her improve her language and communication skills. Thanks to the cochlear implant, she embraced a world of learning, friendship, and fulfillment.

The benevolence of donors, who graciously supported this cause, played a pivotal role in facilitating Izna’s transformative journey, particularly considering her family’s financial constraints. The restoration of her hearing capabilities has bestowed upon her immeasurable happiness and fortitude, empowering her to move forward in life with great determination. Embracing the symphony of sounds that accompanies her, Iznah Saeed is now poised to pursue her dreams with renewed vigor.
