Khadija Bibi's Story

Khadija Shamshad, a two-year-old girl from Charsadda, KPK, had been struggling with severe health issues since birth. She experienced frequent shortness of breath, persistent fatigue, and inadequate weight gain. It made it difficult for her to grow and thrive like other children of her age. Her parents took her to a nearby hospital for a medical consultation. After conducting a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Khadija with ALCAPA (Anomalous Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery. In addition, she was found to have severe Left Ventricular (LV) dysfunction. To save her life, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for ALCAPA repair. However, the cost of the procedure was out of her family’s financial capacity.

Khadija comes from a humble background. She lives in a small rented house with her parents and six other family members. Her father, the sole earner, works as a daily wage laborer, making just PKR 15,000 per month. With such a limited income, it was nearly impossible for them to manage the financial burden of their daughter’s critical surgery. Desperate for assistance, Khadija’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands. Understanding the nature of her condition, we quickly registered her case and arranged for her surgery.
On January 29, 2025, she was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim performed a successful open-heart surgery for ALCAPA repair. The procedure was carried out with care, significantly improving her heart function. After receiving post-operative care, Khadija was discharged in stable condition on February 02, 2025.

Khadija’s parents expressed their happiness as follows:
