Kousar Parveen's Story

Kousar Parveen, a 67-year-old woman from Rawalpindi, was suffering from pain due to swelling in her neck. With time, her condition worsened and she experienced pressure symptoms in her neck. Her routine life was extremely disturbed by her illness. She went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing some medical tests along with an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed her with Multinodular Goiter (MNG). To improve her quality of life, the doctor advised Near Total Thyroidectomy. Unfortunately, her family was unable to pay for her surgery.

Kousar lived in a small house with her extended family of seven members. After her husband’s death, she faced a challenging financial situation and began working as a maid at a private clinic. Her son worked as an auto driver, and together, they brought in a family income of PKR 30,000 per month. It was significantly challenging for them to manage their utility bills, food, and other living expenses. The significant cost of the surgery was overwhelming for them, leaving them in despair. During this dark time, Kousar reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us to register her case.

On January 02, 2025, Kousar was admitted to Maryam Memorial Hospital in Rawalpindi. Her surgery was scheduled for January 03, 2025. Dr. Afsheen carefully managed her case and performed the surgery. Kousar received post-operative care and was discharged in satisfactory condition on January 06, 2025.

Kousar said with happiness:
