Maryam Bibi Regained Mobility
Maryam Bibi's Story
Maryam Bibi, a 34-year-old woman from Lahore, found herself embroiled in a relentless battle against excruciating pain and swelling in her hip joint. Following a comprehensive evaluation and tests, she received the devastating diagnosis of severe osteoarthritis involving hip joints.
With a determination to regain her mobility, Maryam’s doctor recommended a right hip replacement surgery. She underwent the transformative procedure approximately 15 years ago. The surgery proved to be a resounding success, allowing her to enjoy good health and restore mobility for an extended time. Life seemed to have returned to normal.
However, Maryam’s joy was abruptly interrupted when she found herself ensnared by extreme pain after an extended period of relief. Further medical examination revealed the distressing truth: her implant had become infected and required immediate removal. In July 2023, she underwent a surgical procedure to partially remove the infected implant, providing temporary relief from her excruciating condition.
Seeking answers and a permanent solution, Maryam turned to her trusted doctor for a re-evaluation. To her dismay, it was discovered that she had developed a severe fungal infection at the surgical site. The only viable option to eradicate the infection and alleviate her suffering was the complete removal of the implant. In her darkest hour, Maryam reached out to Transparent Hands for financial assistance. Through the support of kind donors, she was admitted to PSRD Orthopedic Hospital in Lahore. On January 27, 2024, under the skillful hands of Dr. Saleem Bashir, Maryam underwent a successful ROI (Removal of Orthopedic Implant) procedure.
The procedure not only addressed the severe fungal infection but also provided Maryam Bibi with a renewed lease on life. With the infected implant removed, she experienced a profound alleviation of pain and a restoration of her mobility. The generosity of the donors who supported her through Transparent Hands played a pivotal role in her recovery, and Maryam extends her heartfelt gratitude to every one of them. After four days of comprehensive care and support from the medical team at the hospital, Maryam Bibi was discharged, ready to embrace a future filled with possibilities.
