Mubina Mehfooz Has Found Relief Through Cholecystectomy

Mubina Mehfooz's Story

Mubina Mehfooz, a 57-year-old woman from Karachi, had been struggling with upper right abdominal pain for the past three years. Her illness made it impossible for her to enjoy meals, as eating was often accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Even performing her daily routine had become challenging due to discomfort. Concerned about her worsening condition, Mubina visited a doctor at a local hospital. After conducting an ultrasound scan and essential laboratory tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Cholelithiasis. To alleviate her pain and prevent further complications, her doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond Mubina’s family’s means.

She lives in a modest two-room brick house with her husband and four children. Her husband is currently unemployed, placing the financial burden on Mubina and her children. Mubina holds a private job, and her eldest son is employed as a security guard at a private organization. Together, they earn a total monthly income of only PKR 45,000, which is barely enough to cover basic household expenses. With limited savings and no other sources of income, saving money for Mubina’s surgery was impossible. During this difficult situation, Mubina reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. On October 29, 2025, Mubina was admitted to Altamash General Hospital, Karachi. The same day, Dr. Abdul Waheed successfully performed her laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The surgery removed her gall bladder along with gallstones, and relieved her abdominal pain. Mubina received post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on October 31, 2025.
