Muhammad Rohan, a 2-year-old boy from Mardan, KPK, had been experiencing breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. His skin and lips often turned blue, an alarming sign that his body was not getting enough oxygen. Upon noticing his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Rohan with Situs Ambiguous, Right Atrial Isomerism, Tricuspid Atresia (TA), and Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). The doctor recommended a CP-shunt operation through open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond his family’s reach.

Rohan lives in a modest home with his parents and three siblings. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and made just PKR 20,000 per month. This income was insufficient to cover their household expenses, including utility bills and food expenses. Given their financial situation, affording to pay for a costly heart surgery was impossible for them. During their search for help, the family contacted Transparent Hands. After reviewing his case, we registered it.

On June 24, 2025, he was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the CP-shunt procedure on June 26, 2025. Following careful monitoring and post-operative care, Rohan’s condition improved significantly, and he was discharged in stable health on June 30, 2025.

With relief and joy, Rohan’s parents said:

Today, Rohan can breathe with ease, his oxygen levels have improved, and he is steadily regaining his strength.
