Rahmeen Can Hear After Her Cochear Implant Surgery

Rahmeen Azam's Story

Rahmeen Azam, a 3-year-old girl from Jhang, had never experienced the joy of sounds. Since birth, she had been unable to hear her parents’ voices or the laughter of her siblings. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a specialist, who conducted a comprehensive examination. After multiple tests, the doctor diagnosed Rahmeen with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). The doctor strongly recommended cochlear implant surgery as the only solution to help her hear and live a normal life. However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond her family’s financial capacity.

Rahmeen lived in a modest house with her parents and three siblings. Her father, a police employee, worked hard to provide for his family. Despite his efforts, his modest monthly income just covered their basic needs, including utility bills, and daily necessities. With so many responsibilities on his shoulders, saving for Rahmeen’s expensive surgery was impossible. Watching their little daughter struggle in silence, her parents felt helpless. In their search for help, they found Transparent Hands and reached out with hope. Understanding the nature of Rahmeen’s situation, we registered her case.

On January 23, 2025, Rahmeen was admitted to Evercare Hospital Lahore. The internal component of the cochlear implant was successfully inserted by Dr. Imran Saeed. After receiving post-operative care, she was discharged in a stable condition on January 24, 2025.

The external component of the cochlear implant will be installed six weeks after the surgery. Moreover, she will receive speech therapy sessions to communicate properly. Rahmeen’s family expressed their overwhelming joy and gratitude as follows:
