Salar Had a Successful Cochlear Implant Surgery
Salar Abdul's Story
Salar, a three-year-old boy, had been grappling with the challenges of hearing loss since birth. It wasn’t until his first birthday that his parents discovered the true extent of his condition, prompting them to seek medical attention. After comprehensive examinations and consultations with healthcare professionals, the family received life-changing news – Salar was a candidate for a cochlear implant surgery, a procedure that held the promise of restoring his ability to hear.
However, the financial burden associated with such a high-cost operation proved to be a daunting obstacle for Salar’s family. Residing in a rented house with his parents and four siblings, and with his father earning a modest income of PKR 30,000 per month as a diligent daily wager, the family simply lacked the resources to afford the life-changing surgery.
Filled with despair and a deep desire to help their son, Salar’s parents turned to Transparent Hands, a beacon of hope for families in need. Through the generosity of donors, Salar was admitted to GIMS Hospital, where on May 8, 2024, the skilled hands of Dr. Maqbool expertly installed the internal component of the cochlear implant. After a brief two-day recovery period, Salar was discharged, embarking on a transformative journey.
In the weeks that followed, the external component of the cochlear implant was secured, and Salar began a series of speech therapy sessions. His progress, a testament to the power of determination and the compassion of others, has been nothing short of remarkable.
Today, Salar’s world is no longer shrouded in silence. With the gift of sound, Salar can now engage with his family, explore his surroundings, and unlock a realm of possibilities that were once beyond his reach. This heartwarming success story stands as a shining example of the profound impact that donor-funded medical interventions can have on the lives of those in need.
