Wafa Abbas's Story

Six-year-old Wafa, a resident of Sargodha, has lived a life shrouded in silence due to sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Concerned for their beloved child, Wafa’s parents sought medical intervention, leading them to a pivotal moment in their journey. The doctor’s diagnosis was clear: Wafa required cochlear implant surgery to restore his hearing. However, this life-changing procedure comes at a hefty cost, making it nearly impossible for Wafa’s family to afford. 

Faced with this daunting reality, they turned to Transparent Hands, where the power of collective compassion became a lifeline. He was admitted to the National Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Naveed Aslam performed his operation on 1-04-2023.  The doctor fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant, and the operation was successful. He was discharged after one day in the hospital. However, the journey to full restoration of his hearing was not yet complete. After a few weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was fixed, paving the way for a world of sound for him.
