You Eased Rubi’s Pain By Funding Her Hernioplasty

Rubi Naz's Story

Rubi Naz, a 41-year-old woman from Hyderabad, lived with a painful swelling near her navel that gradually became larger over time. Routine tasks such as preparing meals, caring for her children, and managing household responsibilities became increasingly difficult as the pain continued to worsen. Determined to find the cause of her symptoms, Rubi visited a local hospital for an evaluation. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with a paraumbilical hernia. This condition occurs when abdominal tissue pushes through a weak area in the abdominal wall near the navel, causing swelling, pain, and discomfort. To repair the weakened abdominal wall and prevent the condition from worsening, the doctor recommended mesh hernioplasty.

Rubi lives in a modest rented home with her husband and four children, three of whom are school-going. Her husband works as a laborer and earns only PKR 30,000 per month. His modest income is used to pay the rent, utility bills, food expenses, and the educational needs of their children, leaving nothing for surgery. With no way to afford the treatment, the family turned to Transparent Hands for support. Moved by her plea, we registered her case.

On June 10, 2026, Rubi was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Her mesh hernioplasty was successfully performed by Dr. Shahzad Soomro. The surgery repaired the weakened abdominal wall and relieved the condition that had been causing her persistent pain. After receiving post-operative care and observation, she was discharged in stable condition on June 12, 2026.
